Fasken Martineau is a proud partner of Université Laval’s Goldcorp Research and Innovation Chair in Natural Resources and Energy Law
Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, proudly announced today that it is supporting the Goldcorp Research and Innovation Chair in Natural Resources and Energy Law.
Université Laval is creating the first-ever Chair devoted to the study of natural resources and energy law from a domestic and international perspective. The new Chair will advance research on the main aspects of law touching on natural resources and energy, whether from a management, legal or environmental performance perspective. For the next five years, Fasken Martineau will be a financial partner of the Chair investing a total of $250,000, and actively participating in the Chair’s management.
« Our firm has a long history working in the field of natural resources. Since the 1970s, we have been involved in major projects like the James Bay development. We know that energy and natural resources will be two of the main global challenges of the 21st century. The legal community will need to grasp the nuances and help everyone better understand the commercial and social implications. It is therefore entirely natural for us to support this Research and Innovation Chair and play a role in promoting and implementing the best practices in this area, » said Éric Bédard, managing partner for Fasken Martineau in the Québec region.
