Justice Pierre J. Dalphond resignation effective November 2014
The Honourable Nicole Duval Hesler, Chief Justice of Quebec, announced today that the Honourable Pierre J. Dalphond has advised her that he intends to cease to be a judge on November 3, 2014.
The Chief Justice said: « On my own behalf and on behalf of my colleagues, although we regret Justice Dalphond’s departure, we salute his exceptional contribution to justice and our society, first as a lawyer, then as Judge of the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal and wish him all the best in his new endeavour. «
Justice Dalphond said, “During the last 20 years, it was a great honour to serve my country as trial judge, appeal judge, officer and President of the Canadian Superior Courts Judges Association, Chair of the advisory committee on judicial appointments in Quebec, member of various other committees, teacher for Canadians and foreign judges and lecturer all across Canada and overseas. I like to think that by doing so I contributed to the enhancement of a judicial system that is the envy of the world and that I leave with the greatest respect for the women and the men that make it work.”
